Case Scenario 4

A 20 years old female patient who sustain falling down accident 9 years back to her right forearm which was closed injury. Then she was taken to traditional bone setters where she gets massaged and tight dressing was applied many times. The traditional bone setters applied fenugreek seed as traditional herbal medication inside the tight dressing(splint). Currently, she presented to clinic for the complaint of unable to use her right upper extremity at all with muscle atrophy at the distal forearm- it is just a figuring hand. Her x-ray shows that no bony injury at all. Now she is diagnosed with Volkman’s ischemic contracture (VIC) and she is on hand functional physiotherapy to see if there is improvement before the extensive release and surgeries.
