CASE SCENARIO 15
This is a six-year-old male patient came from an urban area to our hospital. Approximately three months prior, he had sustained a fall from cart, resulting in injuries to his right wrist and hand. It was closed injury.
However, the family sought help from traditional bone setters, who massaged with Vaseline and they applied a tight bamboo splint. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, the patient’s condition deteriorated.
Upon arrival at our facility, the patient complained of unable to use and move his hand. An X-ray revealed the diagnosis of distal radial fracture plus Volkmann’s contracture. He was advised for follow up and discharged.
